2026 Board of Directors Elections

The Wisconsin Chapter Nominations and Leadership Identification (NLI) committee announces the following positions are open for nominations. Elections will be held in Spring 2026. All positions are for three-year terms except for the Undergraduate and Graduate representative positions, which are one-year terms.

The deadline to submit the nomination form is March 31st, 2026.

Terms of Service and Electoral Standards

NASW-Wl BOARD AND OFFICERS

The board has seventeen (17) or eighteen (18) members

  • Four or Five officers
  • Three Southeast/Racine/Kenosha Regional Representatives
  • Three South Central/Southwest Regional Representatives
  • Three West Central/North Central and Northeast Regional Representatives
  • Two At-Large board members
  • Two student reps: one MSW & one BSW student

*Additional Board Members (18) and officers (5) occurs every other year when there’s a President-elect

ELECTION BALLOTING

Electronic voting starts on or by May 15th. The balloting period lasts three weeks.

Election results are announced in June

Term of office starts July 1st and runs through June 30th.

BOARD MEETINGS

  • The Board meets four times per year virtually or in a hybrid manner on Saturday, typically from 9:00-1:00 PM
  • The first meeting is usually in August or September. New members receive an orientation usually in the afternoon of the first board meeting..
  • The other Board meetings are typically in December, March and June
  • Board meetings are either virtual or hybrid

Board Position Duties and Responsibilities

VICE PRESIDENT FOR BUDGET AND FINANCE

Time Commitment – Extensive

  • Serves for three years.:
  • Chairs the Finance Committee.
  • Serves on Executive Committee.
  • Presents financial statements to the Board of Directors
  • Serve on committees as requested by President
  • Represent issues and concerns of constituency
  • Advocate in their best interest
  • Represent Chapter and profession as appropriate
  • Helps recruit new members and candidates for elected position.
  • Can run for consecutive terms,

SECRETARY

Time Commitment – Moderate

  • Serves for three years.  
  • Keeps minutes of Board of Directors meetings
  • Keeps minutes of Executive Committee meetings
  • Attend all Executive Committee meetings
  • Interpret board policies & decisions to members
  • Represent issues and concerns of constituency
  • Advocate in their best interest
  • Represent Chapter and profession as appropriate

STUDENT BOARD REPRESENTATIVE - UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE LEVEL

  • Serve for one year
  • Member of the Board of Directors
  • Be fully aware of issues needing action
  • Interpret board policies & decisions to members
  • Bring issues & concerns of student constituency
  • Advocate in students best interest
  • Represent chapter and profession as appropriate

EXPECTATIONS

  • Attend all board meetings
  • Participate in decision making process
  • Participate in NASWWI activities
  • Conduct the business of the chapter per Bylaws
  • Serve on at least one Board committee

Qualifications

  • Member of NASW WI Chapter
  • Enrolled in Social Work School Program at the undergraduate or graduate level

REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVES AND AT-LARGE MEMBERS

Time Commitment – Moderate

  • Serve for three years.
  • Member of the Board of Directors
  • Be fully aware of issues needing action
  • serve as chair on committee as requested
  • Interpret board polices & decisions to members
  • Bring issues & concerns of constituency
  • Advocate in their best interest
  • Represent chapter and profession as appropriate
