Reshare Standing with Wisconsin Communities Impacted by Flooding

Over the past few days, communities across Wisconsin have been devastated by severe flooding. Homes, businesses, schools, and infrastructure have been damaged or destroyed. Families have been displaced. Lives have been disrupted. Memories have been destroyed.

On behalf of the National Association of Social Workers – Wisconsin Chapter (NASW-WI), I want to express our deepest concern, compassion, and solidarity with all who have been impacted. We see the pain and uncertainty you are facing, and we are committed to supporting you—not only in this moment of crisis but in the long journey of recovery ahead. We are standing with you and praying for our state.

Social workers are uniquely equipped to respond in times like these. We bring trauma-informed care, crisis intervention skills, and deep connections to community resources. Right now, we are mobilizing our members to:

  • Assist with immediate needs through local shelters, food banks, and disaster relief agencies.
  • Provide emotional support, crisis counseling, and resource navigation for affected residents.
  • Advocate for equitable access to recovery assistance for all impacted communities especially those historically underserved.

For those seeking help, the following resources are available:

If you are a social worker able to volunteer, please connect with local relief organizations or email me at khoward9713@gmail.com so we can direct you to where you are needed most.

This is a time for us to live our core values service, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, and social justice. Wisconsin’s social workers have always been at the heart of our communities, and together, we will help our neighbors rebuild and heal.

In solidarity,

Kim Howard, MSW, CAPSW

President
